While we know there may be a rush to predict the outcome of the election, we are prioritizing accuracy and security above all else. We want PA voters to know that their votes will be accurately counted and verified. Results of some races may not be known on the night of the election.
The Department of State is working closely with counties to implement time-saving measures allowed in election legislation passed in 2019 and 2020. These measures include a central process for tabulating mail ballots and allowing counties to begin processing and tabulating mail ballots at 7 a.m. on Election Day.
Though timely tabulation of votes is a priority, the number one priority of the Department of State and counties is making sure each ballot is counted accurately and securely.
